SRX21011655: Target capture of Cirsium-acaulon_259
1 ILLUMINA (HiSeq X Ten) run: 4.2M spots, 1G bases, 477.6Mb downloads

Design: DNA was extracted from 10-30 mg silica dried leaf tissue or herbarium material using the E.N.Z.A SP Plant DNA Mini Kit (Omega Bio-Tek, Norcross, Georgia, U.S.A.). Libraries were pooled and enriched with the COS 1061 bait kit (Mandel et al. 2014) designed for the Asteraceae family. Unenriched libraries were mixed with target-enriched libraries in a ratio of 3:2.

Study: Evolutionary and biogeographic history of the complex Carduus-Cirsium in the afromontane archipelago
show Abstracthide Abstract
This project seeks to investigate the temporal and geographic origins of the Afromontane and Afroalpine species of the Carduus-Cirsium complex (Compositae, Cardueae), as well as the main drivers of their diversification in the region. This requires the reconstruction of taxonomically well-sampled and well-resolved phylogenies and the application of complex bioinformatic analyses aimed to infer the temporal origin of the studied group, its biogeographic history, the evolution of morphological and ecological traits, and the potential impact of those traits in diversification rates.
